Hush

Veronica Mars Marathon

My boys have been sick the past couple days, and it was one of those rare, blissful illnesses where instead of crying/vomiting/waking up at night, they slept.  And slept.  And s . . l . . . e . . . p . . . t.  Which meant . . . Veronica Mars Marathon!

I finished season 1 last night, and I'm in love.  Truly.  Season 2 is in the mail, and it's all I can do not to check my email every hour for shipping updates.

Even though I'm pretty sure I'm the last person on earth to catch the V. Mars sensation, I'm still going to throw this out there:  SPOILERS AHEAD.  Here are some of my favorite parts of the show:

Wallace.  I'm awarding him best fictional best friend of all time (yes, a mouthful).  He was refreshingly . . . pure.  I know that's not the exact word I'm looking for, but he came off as this kind of innocent guy with a big heart and lots of integrity.  Even better, he never tried to kiss Veronica (although, must admit, I loved it when Will kissed Sydney on ALIAS).

Logan.  Within the first four episodes of the show, I really (and I mean really!) wanted Logan and Veronica to hook up.  I was totally picking up on the subtle vibe that there was more between these two than animosity.  Interestingly enough, in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, I got the same vibe from Draco Malfoy toward Hermione.  I don't know if J.K. Rowling has ever talked about this, but I got the distinct impression in that book that Draco secretly admired and crushed on Hermione.

The Kiss.  The kiss totally took me by surprise.  I was expecting the writers to drag out the sexual tension, but they nailed it perfectly.  As soon as it happened, it all made sense because I knew Logan secretly had it bad for Veronica (see above).  I jumped out of my seat cheering.  And when Veronica pulled away I shouted NO! NO! NO!

The Cliffhanger.  Usually I'm not a big fan of cliffhangers at the end of a story.  Most of the time, it feels like a gimmick.  However, I think a cliffhanger works when ALL other subplots have been tied up.  I loved it in the final moment of Veronica Mars.  Since I know it's either Logan or Duncan on Veronica's doorstep when she says, "I was hoping it would be you," I'm willing to bet season 2 is going to explore Veronica's feelings being torn between both guys.

This show is why I LOVE fiction.  The detective always figures out who the bad guy is.  The villain always gets his due.  The destructive bad boy finds redemption.  The unlikely hero and heroine fall in love and live happily ever after.

SIGH.

Okay, back to the real world . . .

V. Mars and a foreign sale

Happy Thursday all!

Okay, Veronica Mars is killing me.  I haven't been this excited about a show since ALIAS.  My husband was in Denver until late last night, which meant I had the TV all to myself . . . so, yeah.  There went my one-episode-a-week goal!  Now that I have a few more clues, I'm thinking Weevil and Lilly were secretly and romantically entangled, and Lilly was killed because someone found them out.  ACK!  The mystery!  It's killing me!  In a wonderful, wonderful way.

Also, I have some cool and exciting news!  DENMARK bought the rights to HUSH HUSH!  Kudos to the awesome people at InkWell who've made all these foreign sales happen.  I <3 you.  And I <3 Denmark!

Hush

Veronica Mars

I ordered season one last week and watched the first two episodes last night.  Love, love, LOVE it!

Plot from IMBD: After her best friend is murdered and her father is removed as county sheriff, Veronica Mars dedicates her life to cracking the toughest mysteries in the affluent town of Neptune.

I've already made a few guesses as to who killed Veronica's best friend, and how and why - but I have a feeling I'm probably going to be surprised.  The plan is to draw out the pleasure as long as possible and watch one episode a week, but I am a marshmallow when it comes to a good show.  HAHAHAHAHA!

Totally recommending this for fans of Buffy and Smallville.
