Hush

Thankful Thursday

5.  I am thankful for oversized, dark sunglasses.  They are very good at concealing my identity . . . particularly when I'm at a restaurant with my two children, who are dumping chocolate milk on each other, tearing down curtains, playing bumper cars with the highchairs and calling other restaurant patrons "Super Duper Cheesehead Goobers."

4.  I am thankful for chocolate.  See's Candies in particular.  I am thankful my mood reacts positively to chocolate.  If only my weight would get on board with the reacting positively idea.

3.  I am thankful I understand the distinction between wants and needs.  For example, I need new tall boots now that the weather is turning colder.  And I need a new coat.  And a cashmere scarf.  And maybe some matching mittens . . .

2.  I am thankful for friends.  I have all kinds of friends.  Friends who help make excuses for why I shouldn't go to the gym today, friends who always recommend the perfect book, friends who tell TOTAL STRANGERS I am a brilliant author and they'd be crazy not to buy my book, friends who make me laugh so hard I snort my drink, friends who keep my secrets and friends who leave an empty place inside me when they move far away.

1.  I am thankful for Book Club.  I haven't read THREE CUPS OF TEA by Greg Mortenson yet, but I really need to get out tonight.  Like, really.

Hush

Thankful Thursday

Economy Schonomy.  So what if our home builder just filed for bankruptcy and my husband's employer announced no raises for the upcoming year?  This is Thankful Thursday!  No Doom and Gloom allowed on Thankful Thursday.  Five things I'm thankful for:

5.  My jcrew packages arrived!  I dragged the males in my life away from the wii for a five minute fashion show.  My husband put in a request for packages from Victoria's Secret next time.

4.  Maybe I'm the last person to notice, but gas prices dropped.  Big time.  I haven't filled up the car in over a month, thanks to my trusty Schwinn, but I like seeing gas prices around $2/gallon.  It makes my wallet smile.

3.  Hot chocolate.  Did you know Spain was the first country to drink hot chocolate?  And the English were the first to add milk to hot chocolate.  Did you know cocoa powder was invented in Holland?  Thank you, Spain.  Thank you, England.  Thank you, Holland.

2.  In just under two weeks and I'm flying out to Salt Lake City to meet up with some of my critique partners!  Serious Slumber Party Fun Ahead.  No kids, no tv, lots of Cheesecake Factory, and late nights playing Truth or Dare.  Okay, maybe not Truth or Dare.  But definitely Cheesecake Factory.

1.  Number one is a toss up between shoes and pumpkin ice cream.  Shoes keep my feet warm (not to mention pretty), but pumpkin ice cream . . . well, pumpkin ice cream is orgasmic.

Thankful Thursday

This is my first Thankful Thursday.  I've been thankful on Thursday before, but this is the first time I've publicly acknowledged it on my blog.

6.  I'm thankful for my archenemy.  I had an encounter with her last night.  If it weren't for her, my blood pressure would never get a workout.

5.  I'm thankful I have feet.  I'm thankful I can decorate my feet with shoes.

4.  I'm thankful for Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.  Otherwise I would have my two-year-old's crayon mural on the living room wall.

3.  I'm thankful for books.  Books rock my world and give me something to live for.

2.  I'm thankful for cooler weather.  My oven is once again functional beyond storing a birthday cake from May that I haven't yet decided how to get rid of.  (Do I soak it in water to loosen the cake?  Do I throw the cake--and glass pan--out?)

1.  I'm thankful for my agent.  She finished reading my revisions.  Guess what?  She loves them.  SHE LOVES THEM!
