Hush

Five things, quickie style

1.  T.V.   Can I just say how deliriously happy I am that Felicity broke up with Ben, and later, with David?  And good for Noel sneaking a kiss out of Felicity over Thanksgiving.  It's like season one . . . all over again!  Thanks again, Jess, for recommending this show.

2.  Books  I picked up My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult for book club.  Oh, and I picked up a box of Kleenex to go with it.  And I absolutely cannot wait to see the movie.

3.  Gardening   Remember how I said I'm planting my first-ever garden this year?  Little carrot sprouts are already appearing.  I can't believe it.  It's like a miracle.  They're actually growing.  I feel so . . . triumphant.

4.  Surreal writing news  HUSH, HUSH sold to Piemme in Italy!  To celebrate, my husband took me out for some seriously awesome gelato.  I still remember the first time I had gelato.  I was visiting my sister in Baltimore and she swore cantaloupe gelato was the best thing I would ever eat.  Of course, I was seven months pregnant and loving just about everything I put in my mouth . . . but still.  I have fond memories of cantaloupe gelato.

5.  ARC news  ARCs (advance reading copies) of HUSH, HUSH are coming soon.  Super soon.  If you'd like to be entered in a drawing to win a signed ARC, don't forget to register HERE.

Hush

Noel, your room is on fire!

Hi everyone!

So. My life has taken over my life. Officially.

I'm not sure what that means, exactly, but I swear it's true. My LIFE has taken over my LIFE!! Last night I crawled into bed, was on the verge of sleep, then remembered I hadn't showered that day. How does this kind of thing happen? I mean, I'm not in college anymore and it's not finals week. I shouldn't complain about being busy, but showering is sort of important.

Speaking of college . . . FELICITY is a total blast from the past. When I was a freshman in college I fell hard for this guy, Mark, who looked a lot like Ben Covington and was from California. I used to cut through the Math building on my way home because I knew Mark worked there, and I always hoped we'd bump into each other. Anyway, when I came back to school after Christmas vacation, my roommate and best friend confessed she'd kissed Mark! Even though she knew I liked him! To make amends, she went over to Mark's apartment without telling me, and told him kissing him was a mistake because I liked him, and she didn't want to hurt me. Of course, all of Mark's roommates were home and my obsessive crush spread like wildfire. FELICITY, anyone?

And for your viewing pleasure, my absolute favorite scene from FELICITY (so far):

Let's play This is How Urban Legends Start

A couple days ago my friend Jess and I got on the topic of our favorite shows, and of course we brought up ALIAS. (Weird side note: Jess looks like Jennifer Garner but with auburn hair.) After spending about two hours recounting our favorite ALIAS moments, Jess said, “Oh! Oh! And we can't talk about ALIAS without bringing up FELICITY.”

Me: FELICITY? Was that the Keri Russell show?”

Jess: Don't tell me you haven't seen FELICITY. Seriously? You haven't seen FELICITY?!? Hello, it was created by J.J. Abrams.

Me: The same J.J. Abrams who created ALIAS?

Jess: The same. That's why both shows share a ton of the same actors.

Me: Like who?

Jess: Like half the cast, including Jennifer Garner. Oh! Did you know one day the FELICITY writers were brainstorming ideas and someone said, “What if we had Felicity join the CIA and work as a double agent . . .” and ALIAS was born. Right there in a FELICITY brainstorming session. In fact, J.J. Abrams wanted Keri Russell to star as Sydney Bristow, but she's really shy and didn't think she could pull off being a spy, and so they hauled Jennifer Garner in to audition . . .
